Dear All,

Cancer is leading cause of morbidity and mortality globally, accounting for 14.2 million cases per year and 8.2 million deaths. In recent years, cancer has been resurging due to a variety of reasons it includes physical and chemical carcinogens, ultraviolet and ionizing radiations, Infectious agents and unhealthy diet and lifestyle.

The environment affects the growth and development of the person’s behaviour, body and mind. There has been a rapid increase of pollution and WHO has now marked it as a carcinogens. There are many claims regarding association of environmental and occupational factors with cancer and few of them have a proven now. There has been a rapid increase in cancer incidence worldwide and environmental factors like tobacco smoke, pollution, bacteria and virus of various kinds have been one of the leading causes of increased cancer incidence.

Department of Preventive Oncology, Dr. BR Ambedkar Institute Rotary Cancer Hospital, All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Delhi was started with a vision idea to promote basic and clinic research in the field of clinical oncology and other related specialties/super-specialities. We organize conferences, workshops and other means of continuing medical education to assist in acquisition of knowledge skills and dissemination of information regarding new and relevant advances in the field of Clinical Oncology, and related specialties. We also organize various educational and awareness program for cancer control and prevention for general public.

As pollution and other environment and occupational are important factor in cancer but not much discussion has taken place to address this issue. Understanding the importance of this subject in current scenario, we are organising "First Conference on Environmental and Occupational Determinants of Cancer: Interventions for Primary Prevention" as a part of NCI-India educational series on 26-27th May, 2018 at Jawaharlal Nehru Auditorium, AIIMS Delhi in partnership with ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Government of India.

We believe that this will give you a great opportunity to refresh your knowledge, latest update. This will be of great importance for participants to collaborate with AIIMS-Delhi in their future endeavour. We strongly believe that your support will not only lend a powerful expression, but would also amplify the awareness to screen, detect and cure (SDC), at early stages and save millions of lives across the geography of India.
