UPDATES IN MANAGEMENT OF BREAST CANCER

It gives me immense pleasure to have the honour of this correspondence.

Things change, when we choose to change them. Waiting for things to happen would not beget any change. And I would like to present you an opportunity to be a part of a radical change that would bring a new lease of life to many who are yet not aware that they are headed down the wrong corridor unknowingly, unsuspectingly.

I would like to draw your attention to a grave cause which has been plaguing India and many other Low and Middle Income Countries – Cancer. In fact, there is gradual yet consistent increase in the incidence of cancer the world over. The present cancer burden is quite alarming globally and India. What is more alarming is that this figure is going to increase 50% by the year 2020 as predicted by World Health Organization.

Breast cancer has emerged as the most common malignancy among women worldwide. In India also Breast cancer has the highest incidence across all Urban registries. There has been a surge in the literature about different aspects of breast cancer treatment. However, it is often difficult to follow this ever increasing flow of information. In addition, oncology practice is more multimodal and demands a strong inter-disciplinary understanding. However, in many occasion we have limited access to such multidisciplinary co-ordination.

Department of Preventive Oncology, Dr. BR Ambedkar Institute Rotary Cancer Hospital, All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Delhi was started with a vision idea to promote basic and clinic research in the field of clinical oncology and other related specialties/super-specialities. We organize conferences, workshops and other means of continuing medical education to assist in acquisition of knowledge skills and dissemination of information regarding new and relevant advances in the field of Clinical Oncology, and related specialties. We also organize various educational and awareness program for cancer control and prevention for general public. In order to take this initiative forward, we plan to organize “ Updates in management of Breast Cancer ” in National Cancer Institute, India, All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi scheduled on 6th – 7th May, 2017.

We solicit your support for the conference and look forward to see you.
